POLICE EXPLORERS

The Spring Lake Police Explorers Program is designed to provide young men and women a first-hand look of the prestigious career of law enforcement and related fields within the criminal justice system. The Police Explorer Program covers various topics in a classroom setting such as K-9 demonstrations, patrol tactics, evidence collection, motor vehicle stops, handcuffing and searching procedures, traffic control and much more. The Spring Lake Police Explorer Program is offered to both male and female Monmouth County residents and consists of two organizations based upon age.

The Explorers Club- is offered to interested male and females who have completed the 6th grade through 13 years old. The Explorers Club members will meet and participate with the Post in bi-weekly meetings and trainings.

The Explorers Post- is offered to interested male and females who are 14 years old through 20 years old. These members will fully participate in the meetings and trainings. In addition to the meetings, these individuals will be trained and assigned to assist in traffic control for community events such as the Spring Lake 5.  These members will also be permitted to conduct a ride-along with police officers while on patrol.

The Spring Lake Heights Police Department endorses this program and provides its’ officers with opportunities to assist the program with instruction and supervision.  The Spring Lake Police Explorer meetings are held at the Spring Lake First Aid Squad Building, 309 Washington Avenue Spring Lake, NJ 07762, every other Wednesday 4:00pm – 5:00pm throughout the year. The Explorers Post members may be needed to assist with community events on some Saturday’s throughout the year. There is a yearly fee associated with membership which varies based on enrollment date.
